Pre-cast Concrete Wall
Pre-cast wall is
that type of walls which are constructed in a wall mould and cured in a
controlled environment and transported to the construction site and then
placed.
It is mainly used
to increase the speed of construction.
Types of Precast Walls
Ø Cladding or curtain walls: These are the
non-load bearing wall used to with stand against wind. This type of precast wall incorporates divider boards, window divider
units, spandrels, mullions, and section covers.
Ø Load bearing wall: It exchange loads from
different components and it is easy to remove without damaging.
Ø Shear Wall: Shear walls are
vertical members, which resist and transfer lateral forces, in or parallel to
the plane of the wall, from
the superstructure to the foundation.
It has a good
characteristic against thermal resistance, moisture protection, fire safety,
acoustics, durability, maintainability.
Advantages of precast concrete walls
Ø It can be used as load-bearing structures so any other structural framing doesn’t require
and that will help in saving of cost.
Ø It reduce peak thermal loads
and act as a thermal storage.
Ø Precast concrete wall panels
can utilize a thin brick veneer that can achieve a traditional appearing
facade.
Ø It can be with stand in worse
condition as it is more durable and that will make structure low maintenance.
Ø This can be reused for future
building.
